Climate

Both destinations (Dodola and Adaba) are located at 2,400 metres above sea level at the foothills of a mountain range with peaks of over 3,700 metres. The climate is somewhat cooler than in summer in central Europe. The area is malaria-free. With increasing altitude the climate gets colder and wetter. Above 3,000 metres night frosts are common.

The best time for trekking is the dryer season between November and May. During July and August afternoon showers occur practically every day. However, this should not keep you away. If you move through the mountains early in the day you are safe most of the time since rains usually set in after midday. The rainy season has it’s own attractions too: the plant life is particularly lush and it is the perfect time for colourful flowering vegetation.
